
View of Devil's gate, looking toward the north. The river flows to the north and east here. The pioneers did not pass throught the canyon itself. They passed off to the south and east, approx. 1/2 mile.

Mom standing on top of Independence Rock, an important landmark for pioneers on their way to Oregon, California, and Utah. Many people wrote their names and dates on this solid piece of granite. How, I don't know.

Grady's better side, looking over Martin's Cove where the Martin Handcart company sought refuge from a storm in November, 1856. They were stranded here for 5 days and 4 nights and were rescued by companies dispatched from Salt Lake City the first week of October.
